HOT SPOTS - CITY OF MELBOURNE
EDITORIAL DESIGN

Background

Description

Organisation and planning are crucial in the chilly winter months and we interpreted imagination through the theme of ‘curate’. This was reflected through the newly adopted poster format, deliberately styled photographic compositions and a layout that prioritises the image.

The posters were distributed in strategic city locations, glue-bound on packing crates.

ROOFTOP CINEMA
EVENT BRANDING

Background

Description

A full event identity system consisting of a logotype, brand pattern, brand imagery (series of three), diagonal grid system, dynamic typography and colour palette.

The creative was based on the theme of 'New Context'. Three popular films - Goonies, Electroma and Blow-Up, were explored and re-imagined within Rooftop parameters. Iconic props from the films were constructed into unexpected sculptural forms culminating in a series of ‘Rooftop-esque’ posters that encouraged viewers to embrace new perspectives.

A diagonal grid system provided a foundation for dynamic typography, reinforcing cinematic themes of drama and tension. Referencing narration, a secondary patterning system was developed from the punctuation keys of the brand typeface. Working harmoniously with the grid, the patterning directly interpreted digital data.

An urban colour palette of yellow and black was applied throughout.

BASIC SHAPES
PRODUCT DESIGN

Description

A family of animal characters were created by combining the square, circle and triangle. The characters were silk-screened to a 1680 X 500mm modernist growth chart for kids.

Honest, pure and devoid of superfluous details, the product imaginatively introduces kids to basic geometric learning and spark the imagination through the inclusion of memorable animal facts.

The charts are compactly packaged in custom triangular cartons made from 100% recycled post consumer waste pulp. They can be purchased here (uk) or here (aus)
